Tierzero and TelePacific Sign $9 Million Contract for Private Line Network Services and Joint Development of VoIP Services
March 5, 2007 9:00 a.m. EST
LOS ANGELES, CA. March 5, 2007 -- TelePacific Communications, a facility based Competitive Carrier, today announced that Tierzero, a regional Internet Service Provider in Southern California, has extended its contract with the Company. As part of a $9 million, five-year agreement, both companies commit to a joint effort of product development and innovation. In addition, Tierzero will be using private network access services from TelePacific.
TelePacific is providing Tierzero with a turnkey private line network including a dedicated OC-48 fiber ring to deliver high quality and high-speed T1 Internet access to its business customers. By leveraging the capacity and reach of the California-wide, SONET-based fiber network recently acquired with control of Mpower Communications, as well as its extensive colocation and switching infrastructure, TelePacific is uniquely positioned to offer Tierzero the capacity, quality, reliability and flexibility necessary to support the Tierzero ISP business for a fraction of the cost of building a separate network.
Additionally, both parties have agreed to develop, jointly, new services that will include an expanded VoIP portfolio and traditional TDM-based voice service offerings. As a result of this relationship, Tierzero will be able to offer a new class of services to its diverse customer base and TelePacific will expand its wholesale product portfolio, including SIP services.
"Tierzero is eager to step into a larger footprint and expand its product portfolio," said Tierzero CEO, John Carter. "We are excited to work with TelePacific as we build services for our customers. They rely on us to stay ahead of the curve as the business and technological landscape continues to reinvent itself. Working hand in hand with an excellent carrier like TelePacific ensures that Tierzero will continue to deliver the premium quality service our customers have come to expect. "
"Our agreement with Tierzero is a perfect example of how competitive providers can work together to meet network capacity needs and generate additional revenue from existing networks," said TelePacific's president and CEO Dick Jalkut. "The opportunity to support a business plan such as Tierzero's plays to our strengths as a facilities-based CLEC with a deep and dense network footprint. TelePacific's recent acquisitions of Mpower and Arrival Communications have expanded our extensive facilities-based CLEC network in California, so ISPs, IXCs and other CLECs can rely on TelePacific for its network reach, quality and cost structure to support their businesses."
